Brief Description of Character’s Appearance:
Josh is of slim build, around 5’9” in height (if he’s not wearing platforms) and weighs in at around 155 pounds. His hair and eyes are naturally dark brown, but he keeps his hair short and with blond highlights, and generally clean-shaven, though he has been known to have mustaches and jaw-line beards. He is also of Puerto Rican decent and speaks with a fairly distinctive accent- despite his father being very much your atypical white guy. As a result Josh himself is tan-skinned and mistaken for being Mexican a lot, even though his mother is very much Puerto Rican.
The other thing about him is that Josh started life as Maria- though he’s not a trans-sexual as far as that goes. He is intersexed, which means he started out with a lot of traits that are very male, but his parents, following the advice of their doctor, decided to raise him as a girl. This caused some confusion and at about age 16-17 Maria decided that she’d had enough and started changing into the man he is today- starting off with getting her chest reduced (which wasn’t difficult, her breasts weren’t all that big to begin with and has two small scars on his chest from the surgery) and moving on to testosterone therapy with the blessings of his parents.
He does not have male equipment as far as that goes, though he was born without the full indoor plumbing of a woman, and it is difficult to tell he was a ‘she’ simply based on clothed appearance. More details are available if anyone is curious as to the specifics.
Josh is not flamboyant about his clothes excepting when he is at the club so you can generally find him in cargo pants and red t-shirts (red being his favorite color).
As far as distinguishing marks he does have a few tattoos on his arms and chest- one of them being a cheesy salute to the mom heart design over his own heart.

Gay (though yes, this is a little confusing considering. But he’s never been attracted to women- though he has subbed/Dommed for them on occasion. Rare ones, but he has.)

Background:
Josh was raised near Miami, Florida and speaks Spanish, English, Thai and bastardized French. He has 2 older brothers and one younger sister along with both living parents and huge extended family- his mothers maiden name being Ramirez if that tells you anything. His mother, Luisa, works as a grade school teacher and his father, John (yes, he did get crap for being John Smith in school) is a construction worker. Both instilled a sense of hard work and responsibility into Josh from a very young age that has carried over to today. And while they may have worked hard, they played hard too- Josh being more used to the glamour and excitement of the big city from Miami, though he had a pretty typical American childhood.
After he switched fully from being Maria to Josh at 18 he decided he wanted to get into the armed forces, having been involved in the Florida ROTC from a very young age, and signed up with the Navy. The thing most people don’t realize is that for a while Josh was a Navy Seal as a sniper- knowing more about guns and how to hit a target over a mile away than people really should. This however caused quite a bit of stress; because he realized that he didn’t have it in himself to kill people, even under orders.
So after 2 full years at age 20 he requested to be reassigned- being sent out on a Navy battleship to the Philippians, where he was assigned to Kankuro Sabaku’s unit.
And at first they got along like oil and water: Josh thinking Kankuro was too much a stickler for the rules and Kankuro thinking he was just an air-brained loose cannon.
Until Josh saved his life from a not very thought out experiment in BDSM. Both Josh and their commanding officer took Kankuro to task at his rather idiotic move and decided to teach him themselves, Josh having been pretty much raised around the lifestyle, what with his oldest brother and parents being involved in it themselves. And thus started their friendship- which has carried through the years.
Nothing like a near-death experience to bring people together.
After that they got along fairly well, Josh teaching Kankuro to loosen up and enjoy life (along with a few other things) until they, and the rest of their unit decided to quit after their female C.O. was dishonorably discharged under the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell act. So at 26 he and Kankuro decided to mess around the US, Josh looking for a more permanent place to stay and become a tattoo artist- his real first love. He settled down near Las Vegas, both to be near the big city and to be more involved in the intersexed community where he goes to meetings there about once a month or so.
Though with Kankuro moving to said big city he’s decided lately that he was going to open up his tattoo shop there to be closer (and bother his old friend) as well as get involved with Aspect of the Wave.
As far as his BDSM history Josh really can’t remember a time when he wasn’t around it- though his parents kept it very toned down and behind closed doors when he was younger. But they never lied to him either, answering his questions when he got old enough to ask and understand the answers. Though… he never thinks too hard on the fact his parents are involved in the Lifestyle- they’re his parents. Ew.
Personality:
Josh acts about as ridiculous as one can get, reminding most people of a Jack Russell Terrier on espresso- with just as much energy. He is fickle, passionate, will take forever to decide on what clothes he’s going to wear and is very much a people-person. Josh is a man that is very sure of himself, if not what he wants most of the time. He takes criticism well, insults simply rolling off him with an “I don’t care what YOU think” attitude. He is kind, though he has a sadistic streak a mile wide (as Kankuro would well remember from all the pranks in their Navy days) and is seemingly mercurial in mood, though generally with a happy undercurrent. Though when he gets really angry he dissolves into Spanish that is practically unintelligible.
He knows though when it’s time to be serious, and doesn’t really fear much (except for spiders and big fish- and eels, eels are CREEPY) but other than that doesn’t back down when he thinks he’s right. Though most people beat him in the stubborn department- he’d rather just have everyone get along than fight over stupid things. Or do as he says- he rather likes being in charge…

Bouncing happily into the VIP area of the club and dressed in sleek leather pants with bright red sleeveless shirt, Josh looked around happily, light brown eyes taking in the sights of the lovely people before getting himself a drink from the bar.
And pouted- it seemed Kankuro wasn’t in yet for his shift- so took his drink as he wandered through the area, chatting aimlessly with people and looking over the subs with an interested gaze. He hadn’t had some playtime in a while.
Spotting a likely contestant Josh sipped his mai-tai and flopped into one of the couches- very pleased at their color. He liked red.
“You,” he stated, waving imperiously at a young-looking goth man to come over to him, pointing at the floor beside his feet. “I’m bored niño, come over here and entertain me.” And gave the man a wink, waiting to see what he would do.
The man thought it over for a minute, looking Josh up and down before shrugging, sitting at Josh’s feet placidly and leaning against his legs with a soft sigh.
Running his free hand through black locks highlighted in red, Josh purred to himself. 9 times out of 10 he could usually call if someone was a sub or not, and this one looked like a ton of fun. “You’d look lovely with nothing more than leather bindings on- I bet that pale skin shows off welts beautifully…”
His smile as the man shivered was nothing short of predatory and wholly smug.
